Agren Appliance
Named New Title Sponsor of OPS Late Model Stock Division
OXFORD, Maine (May 11, 2006) -
Oxford Plains Speedway is pleased to announce that Agren
Appliance, Maine’s largest independent appliance
retailer, has joined the Weekly Racing Series program as
title sponsor of the Late Model Stock division.
Agren
Appliance has five locations in southern Maine, including
150 Main Street in South Paris and 40 Minot Avenue in
Auburn, where designing kitchens is one of the new
services they offer. Stores also are located in Brunswick,
South Portland and Waldoboro.
"We’re
excited to have Agren Appliance join our family of
sponsors at Oxford Plains Speedway," said Speedway
President Bill Ryan. "This type of race car
represents one of the fastest-growing divisions in New
England, and our Agren Appliance Late Model Stocks are no
exception. They provide some of our closest and most
exciting races every Saturday night."
Having
served Maine homeowners and builders since 1978, Agren
Appliance promises its customers that service comes with
every sale, and long after warranties have ended. Agren
sells and services America’s most prominent brands of
major home appliances, including AGA, Amana, Bosch, Dacor,
Fisher & Paykel, Frigidaire, General Electric, Jenn-Air,
KitchenAid, Maytag, Miele, Subzero, Thermador, Viking,
Whirlpool and Wolf.
New
appliances are always delivered at no charge, and with
most non-built in styles, installation is free.
Now in its 12th season, the OPS Agren Appliance Late Model
Stock division has been the proving ground for many of the
premier weekly and touring racers in the region. Past
champions include NASCAR Busch East Series and Busch Grand
National competitor Ryan Moore (2001) and multi-time Pro
All Stars Series super late model champion and two-time TD
Banknorth 250 winner Ben Rowe (1995). Ricky Rolfe (2002)
and Scott Robbins (1997) both advanced through the ranks
after their Agren Appliance LMS title and captured the
Oxford Networks Pro Stock championship at Oxford.
Dennis
Spencer Jr. is a two-time Agren Appliance Late Model
champion and is one of the current stars in the division.
His challengers for the 2006 title include current
division point leader Dale Verrill, 2003 champion Travis
Adams, four-time OPS Limited Sportsman champ Carey Martin
and 20-year-old rising star T.J. Watson.
Each
year, the Agren Appliance Late Model Stock division
participates in a qualifying race for the TD Banknorth
250, with one driver earning an automatic starting spot in
the nation’s richest single-day short track race. Adams
won that honor in 2005. This year’s bid will go to the
top Weekly Racing Series finisher in the American-Canadian
Tour Maine-Ly Action Sports 100 on Saturday, July 29, the
eve of the TD Banknorth 250.
