Qualifying
for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series New England 300 at New
Hampshire International Speedway (NHIS) has been
scheduled for Friday, July 14 at 3:00 p.m.
Ryan Newman holds the NHIS NASCAR
NEXTEL Cup Series qualifying record with a speed of
133.357 mph set in September of 2003. Newman and Jeff
Gordon are tied at the top of "The Magic Mile"
leaderboard with three pole positions. Newman and Gordon
are the only NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series drivers to win
after clinching the pole at NHIS.
Among active NASCAR NEXTEL Cup
Series drivers, Mark Martin and Ken Schrader have each
won two poles, while Brian Vickers, Tony Stewart, Bill
Elliott, and Bobby Labonte have each registered one pole
position on the 1.058 mile oval.
In addition to NASCAR NEXTEL Cup
Series qualifying on Friday, July 14, the NASCAR Grand
National Division, Busch East Series drivers will
compete in the New England 125.
